Tickets should use Fix versions=earliestUnreleasedVersion() by default

Question

By creating a new  Incident ticket and not specifying Fix Version/s: value, the ticket is being created with Fix Version/s:=none.
It should be created with Fix Version/s:=earliestUnreleasedVersion() by default. The same should be applicable to all ABC ticket types by creating or cloning a ticket.

The Automation for Jira - Server Lite app available for Jira Server does not support the Edit Issue action, so that option is not available as a potential solution.

If the you have multiple unreleased Versions, and the "earliest" unreleased Version keeps changing over time, this is not going to be an easy problem to solve. You would need to look at all the currently unreleased Versions and figure out which one is the earliest.

There are some apps that support using scripting to set default field values. Adaptavist Scriptrunner is one that I know of, though there may be others.

Are you using Jira Server or Data Center? Which version of the product are you using?

It may be possible to accomplish what you want using the Automation for Jira app to set the field after the issue is created.

There are other third party apps that might help with this by enabling you to set a value for the field within the Create Issue dialog before the issue is saved.
