Editing an Office Document from Confluence

I use this option very often. And I'm asked to log in to our Confluence server every time. It so annoys me

Why does it happen?And how can I avoid it?

Are you running an older version of Confluence? We had that same problem and that is why we had to upgrade to 3.5.3. It resolved the problem.
