Make existing project private

Question

Hello,

Very happy with the fact that this is now out of beta and we have the ability to make projects private (which has been something we have waited for to fully adopt the solution).

So we updated to Standard and all projects looks to be public which is to be expected. The question is: how can we make an existing project private?

@Anish Deena  Thanks for the reply. I now see the hard to spot lock on the icon. Archiving  projects then making new ones will not work at all for the reasons you state.

I still cannot see how to create private projects when I make one in JIRA.

Aah interesting @Arthur Mack . Unfortunately, you can't make a public project private. So maybe one way is to archive those projects and create new private ones instead? Archived projects are still discoverable so this isn't foolproof cc: @Rachel Lin

You can identify a private project by the lock symbol on the project icon (here's an example)

For us we kept projects private while in Beta by only allowing certain users access to Atlas. Now its out of Beta and we upgraded to premium it would be great to let more people into Atlas but then they would see all the older projects.

Also I cannot see how one can tell if a project is private or not? ALso there seems to be no way to make a project private while creating it from a JIRA epic?
