Lucene index corruption

I am on V6.4.12 and getting error:

Lucene search terminated abnormally: com.atlassian.jira.issue.index.SearchUnavailableException: com.atlassian.jira.util.RuntimeIOException: org.apache.lucene.index.CorruptIndexException: document count mismatch: deleted docs count 0 vs segment doc count 242 segment=_zx8c

Is there anything I can do to fix.

We need to get this working prior to moving to the Cloud.

Indexes can get broken or corrupted. Direct database updates are notorious for causing these issues.

Most can be fixed by re-indexing

Go to the indexing page and start a complete index re-build, not the background index. Jira  will be unaccessible for a short period depending on your instance size.

(Short cut - type 'gg' and then enter 'indexing' in the pop up menu search dialog)
