Post function validator on field that is not in issue

Hello,

 

I am having a problem because my post function validator is triggering when the issue does not have the field required or optional. Its not even listed in the issue and thus the user cannot even create an issue.

 

I would like to have that validator in place because if works perfectly for 90%+ of the issues but hoping to find a workaround without changing issue type + workflow.

 

Any ideas how to do that?

You'll need to change the workflow.  A validator is always run when you try to transition an issue, so you'd have to stop it with the workflow.  

Or, if it is a scripted validator, you could add code for "if field doesn't exist, don't check it"
