what is the recommended way to work offline in confluence?

Question

I am installing confluence for my team <25 users. only a couple of us work outside the office, travelling 80%. What is the recommeded way to edit content offline? I've downloaded roadrunner which looks interesting. Can I get a personal copy of confluence to run on my laptop to edit the content? personal copies in this way should be covered under my current license as it all the same user. Also what about the addon like giffy, can I get a personal copy of it too?

If this is not the correct direction for offline editing - please suggest the recommended approach.

thanks,

Each Confluence license covers only a single installation.

You can buy a 10-user copy of Confluence for $10 (most add-ons are similarly cheap) and install it locally.

Word import has a lot of bugs and Atlassian apparently has no plans to fix them.

Have you tried Road Runner?

Looks good by the demo video. But haven't tried yet.

Hi Fabio, I did read about import/export and also tried it. The problem is that you lose all of the change managment features of confluence when you do that. Word also has document versioning built in but neither of these two versioning mechanisms are integrated. Also, import/export with gliffy are not editable in word.

It seems a better way would be to create a local confluence server and use all the facilities of it. Otherwise, I'm forced to use only Word for editing with dropbox as a repository and put the links into confluence.

Does anyone have a better idea.
