what was the first confluence release to support java 8?

We are attempting to mitigate nessus pluggin ID 84824 on a few of our windows confluence servers. The vulnerability solution calls for upgrading to 2015CPU java 7_85. However, this release is now unsupported by oracle and not available for public download. so, now considering a confluence upgrade. We are currently running 5.4. Would you know the first release post 5.4 to support java 8?

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

I know they ended support for Java 7 and moved to only supporting Java 8 in Confluence version 5.8.

Yeah, you can check directly in the supported platforms documentation:

You can notice that JDK 1.7 is only supported on 5.7.X versions and the JDK 1.8 is only supported in 5.8.X and above. Confluence service won't start at all on JDK .1.7.

Also note that Confluence 5.7.x supports the 1.7 and 1.8 JDK. It's the only version that supports both of these versions.
