I created a page and added few images to the page and published it. After that I just see an code in the place of the image I pasted. Please refer to the attached image.

I believe that you are suffering from this known issue: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-65792
This can be frustrating when coping and pasting images into Confluence. The workaround is listed on the page at the bottom.
