Will this require further action before it will show the commit comment ?

Hi,

I would like to clarify the following:

I did a new git commit up.

So, at the git bucket where all the repositories are at the main page where there is a search bar,

I tried to see if it is already in to make sure that my commit is up.

However, the search doesn't return anything. Or in the branch I was the file in there - the one I made the changes also didn't show my commit comment.

However, if I go to my work and

Bitbucket mentioend:- You pushed to BranchName in XXX 5 min ago and further down along the same line there is a create a pull request

My question is : does it required a person that has the authority to do the merging before it will show up the commit comment in the branch?

Hi @nobodyIsMe,

You can tell if it's a Bitbucket Cloud repo or not based on the URL of the repo:
- If the repo URL starts with https://bitbucket.org/, then it's a Bitbucket Cloud repo
- If the URL is different, then it should be a Bitbucket Server repo

Could you please let me know
1) If this is a Bitbucket Cloud repo or not (I'm asking because the two products have differences in features)
2) Where do you see the "Create a pull request" line?
Could you share the URL of the page where you see that, replacing any repo/company names etc. in the URL with dummy values?
Could you perhaps also attach a screenshot of the page where you see that message (after blurring any sensitive/private data in the screenshot)?

Based on what you have described so far, it sounds like you may have pushed to a branch other than the main one of the repo, and the "create a pull request" should be a prompt to create a pull request to the repo's main branch.

I will need to check again if it is at the branches that i check the commit number then i can confirm things.

So, what is that line "create a pull request " is about ?

1. Is this a Bitbucket Cloud repository (hosted in https://bitbucket.org/) or a Bitbucket Server repository (self-hosted instance)?

I can see that there is a Bitbucket Cloud account in our system with the same email as your community account, but your question is tagged as 'unknown-hosting-type', so I just wanted to double-check which product you are using/referring to.

2. I assume that by 'commit comment' you are referring to the commit message?

In case you are referring to Bitbucket Cloud, if you have a repo with the URL e.g. https://bitbucket.org/my-workspace/my-repo/, then the search bar that shows in https://bitbucket.org/my-workspace can be used to search for any repositories with the name you enter (you will not see results for commit messages).

The branches page of the repo, e.g. https://bitbucket.org/my-workspace/my-repo/branches/ does not display any commit messages either.

The commits along with their message can be viewed on the Commits page of the repo, https://bitbucket.org/my-workspace/my-repo/commits/, and you only need to have read access to the repo to be able to view commits with their messages. You don't need any additional permissions.

If you are indeed using Bitbucket Cloud, can you see the commit on the page https://bitbucket.org/my-workspace/my-repo/commits/ ?
Replace my-repo in the URL with the name of your repo, and my-workspace with the workspace id of the workspace that owns it.
