Hi,

I need some help to count jira tickets and filter it out in a table format visible in jira:

How can we count jira tickets from attached data metrics:
Jira tickets in BACKLOG
Jira tickets in TO DO
Jira tickets in IN PROGRESS
Jira tickets in TEST
Jira tickets in DONE

Is it possible to collect this info from a jira component?

Is it possible to use the jira filter to count the number of these metrics?

I wonder if the 2-dimensional gadget would work for you? You can create a filter by component for each component and then associate with a 2-d gadget.

Run a search for the issues you want to report on (project = xyz, or assignee = me, for example). Save the search as a filter.

Go to your dashboard and add a filter statistics gadget that uses your saved filter and groups by status.

This is possible with the use of dashboard gadgets. Please create a dashboard and add gadgets for issue counts and display. You can make use of the filters while setting up the gadgets.

I am trying this query to count and filter out the number of each tickets in seperate parts: I think i need 5 different column tables with each info in each table:

component = "project" AND status =Backlog AND status = "To Do" AND status = "In Progress" AND status = Test AND status =Done

Any comments on how I can improve this query? Thanks.

This query would not work as you are using “and” which would suggest an issue could be in multiple statuses at once. Maybe you want this?

component = "project" AND status in (Backlog, "To Do", "In Progress", Test,Done)

however I don’t think that is what you want. I think you just need to exclude the status altogether…

component = project

Pulling the conversation back into this thread. If you want to use the 2D gadget then create filters like this…

project = xxx and component = aaa

project = xxx and component = bbb

project = xxx and component = ccc

etc…

For the counts, you can make use of the 'filter statistics' gadget.

Navigate to your dashboard --> Add a gadget --> Select "filter statistics" --> Save

In the configuration, choose to display the saved filter, and "Status" as the "statistic" you want to report on. Save the config, go to the dashboard; to visualize the counts for each status.

Native JQL does not have a count function. Options:

consider an addon app from Marketplace
consider using the free Excel or Sheets extension and use Excel/Sheets to create pivot tables

I think i need to use the count function - do you have any suggestion to rewrite this query to count each section of tickets in these areas:

Assuming that you wish you filter the issue which have been created in the last month, the JQL would be like:

component = "project" AND status in (Backlog, InProgress, "To Do", Test, Done) AND created >= startOfMonth(-1)

I have used parts of the sample query shared earlier and added the last piece for the date.
