I am able to log into Confluence as sysadmin.

I am able to log into Jira with my usual credentials. The same account is tied to Confluence.

@Judd Williams If you are able to login to Confluence as the admin account you should check the user directory. I am assuming that you are attached to an external user directory and my guess is that this connection is not working. https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf59/configuring-user-directories-792499460.html

You should also look at the Confluence logs and see if there is any information there that can help identify the issue.

Apologies as I am a complete rookie with Confluence and Jira admin.

I believe we are attached to our Jira directory. I can log into Jira ok. synching them seems to work ok. Here is our setup...

When I "Test Remote Directory Connection" to the Jira crowd I get the following error.

Test basic connection : Failed

javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path validation failed: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: validity check failed

I just had a thought. Could this be caused by an expired ssl security certificate on our Jira web domain?

That could be causing the connection issue.
