Is there a way to show faces of Assignees on an issue?

We have added a custom multiple users field to our issues in order to add several people to an issue. For now, we have managed to show the names of these on the layout of the issue, but I would like to show faces instead of names.

Is there a way to do this?

This is not possible. While Jira does display the avatar of the Assignee you don’t have the ability to leverage this on other user picker fields.
