Cannot clone remote bitbucket authentication error

I created the "magic" password in bitbucket.   saved it.   opened sourcetree for windows 3.4.6.

open a new tab.

click remote

I get a list of repositories on my remote bitbucket account

Choose the one i want

click "clone"

ultimately get this error:

Error: remote: You'll need to authenticate with a valid app password. You can create an app password from your account at https://bitbucket.org/account/admin/app-passwords

i've edited my account on sourcetree.   changed the password to match the "magic" on generated on bitbucket.   

Note:   i'm not trying to enable ssh

There has to be a coherent set of instructions for hooking sourcetree 3.4.6 up to bitbucket!

hopefully somebody has them.

found a solution in another post (linked below for ref)

i had to inject ':<AppPassword>' into the url

https://<username>:<AppPassword>@........

(EDITED, solution above) (original Post - same issue) I'm having exactly the same issue - account authorizes correctly when selecting Basic and supplying new App Password...under Remote it shows my account and brings back the correct Repositories when 'refresh'd....click CLONE.....it spins its wheels for a bit and then brings back:
