Why is global rank a number like 9223372036854775807 ?

At some point along the way, the global rank number changed because one of our tools that uses the API broke because it wasn't expected a number so large.  

What case the global rank number to change to a value like the one posted: 9223372036854775807  when there are only 45,000 issues in our database?

Hi Karie Kelly,

The value of the lexorank is calculated by ordering the issues on the board lexicographically(dictionary order). There are 3 buckets used in the process of lexicographically sorting the issues in the JIRA, hence the 1|, 2| and 3|. The rest of the characters and symbols are the product of the sort itself.

So if you need to order the issues they way it looks on the board in JIRA, you have to apply order by caluse to the lexorank field/ sort this in your code, however you won't be able to see this field's information anymore.
