Can't upgrade from 6.15.7 to 7.13 and can't restore the site

Hello everyone,

We try to upgrade from the 6.15.7 to 7.13 and after the installation goes fine, we get an error when start the confluence server and we get a schema error.

After that, i try to uninstall everything and install the version 6.15.7 and restore it and we got a huge message with some errors.

What we can do ?

Hi @Anousch ,

did you make a database backup, or XML export before upgrading Confluence ?

If you did, you should try to setup a new Confluence from scratch and then reimport the data (in Confluence for the XML, or Database restore otherwise).

SCHEMA errors will happen if you do not have the correct database version compatible with Confluence.

Here's the error we get :

There are two pieces here and I am not sure which one you would prefer to start with, so I'll take a guess at the "restore" rather than "upgrade".

On the upgrade one, I would want to ask what errors you got and what went wrong, but let's look at the restoration first. I'd like to ask for a bit more detail on what you are actually doing:

You say you "install 6.15.7" - is that a clean, new, installation that you point at an empty database and let it finish the installation? So you can log in as an admin, use the admin sections and see that there are no spaces or pages in it apart from the default/demo/initial space?

Assuming that is the case, then your next step is to restore. In your answer to @Alexis Robert 's question, you give us the errors. These look like you have tried to use "restore site from a backup file", but have given the service a .zip file that does not contain what it needs. It looks to me like you have given it a zip file containing a zipped up copy of the installation directory.

Can you confirm that's what is happening?

The restore site process needs the .xml file (in a zip) that a Confluence creates when you go to Admin -> Backup and "Backup site to .xml", not the install directory. So I have to ask what you're trying to restore and how that backup was taken?

I see it was an compatibility issue about the Microsoft SQL server.

Which version can i upgrade from the 6.15.7 which doesn't need a migration of the Microsoft SQL server ?
