Problems cloning bitbucket repositories

The terminal window shows cloning but it goes on for hours.

This could be a network issue. Make sure there is no firewall blocking your access to Bitbucket.

Are you using Bitbucket Cloud or an on premise version of Bitbucket (server, data center)
Are you cloning with http(s) or ssh?
