How to define EPICK Link field mandatory

Question

Dear all,

We have a need on issue creation to be sure user has filled up the field EPIC Link.
For that we need to define that field as mandatory.

After checking the field, I can see that it is set to LOCKED, does it mean the only way to get it to be filed is through a transition screen at Create transition ?

Yes you could do this with the validator on the create transition. Be sure that this is done on a workflow for the specific issuetype that should in fact require the epic field
