Is it possible to run Confluence without JIRA?

Question

Is it possible to use Confluence without JIRA?  I am a Project Mgr interested in the benefits of using Confluence, but the developers/QA, etc. are not quite sold on implementing JIRA.  So I am wondering if it is 1) technically feasible to run Confluence on its own, and 2) if there is value with running Confluence on its own (without all the benefits of integration with JIRA)?

As Nic says : it's perfectly doable.

But I'm suprised about the reaction of your developers/QA on JIRA. In most cases it's the developers that want to use JIRA and Confluence. What are their arguments against using it?

I always want to learn something new :)  .

Absolutely.  The two applications are totally separate (but play nicely together if you do decide to integrate them)

They do two different things.  If you've a space for a wiki type application in your organisation, then Confluence is worth a look.  In fact, it's integration with Jira is only a minor selling point for it.
