You can take a look to out app: it logs who deleted any issue and allows to recover the info. It should be installed before the issue deletion though.

Hello,

Unfortunately you can't know who delete the issue. You need to work with permission to not allow user to delete issue.

Hope this helps

Hello benziane,

Thanks for your swift response. My question is is it possible to find who deleted the issues in the project.

*As my knowledge we can check in Audit log?

Mohamed Benziane

Sorry, yes as you noted in the audit log you can find you deleted issues

Did you already look at your audit log in your instance ?

As you can read, some feature are only available in Jira DC.

Do not delete issues. When you delete it is GONE. Hardly a week goes by without someone wanting to restore an issue. Deleting issues will come back and bite you when it is the most inconvenient. I suggest closing with a resolution value of Deleted anything you want to delete. I implement a special transition only the project lead can execute and it requires filling in a reason field from a select list (such as entered in error, OBE, Duplicate, Other) and explanation text.

Deleting issues destroys historical data. Missing issue numbers will eventually cause a question about what it was and why was it deleted even if it was done properly. Missing data always brings in the question of people hiding something that may have looked bad.

The only viable way to restore an issue is to create a new instance of JIRA and restore a backup that has the issues. Then export them to a csv file and import them to your production instance. You will lose the history.

None of my users have delete permission.

I don't believe this information is recorded in the Audit log.

Cmon Atlassian, at least give us a reasonable pointer. Now I have to comb all the atlassian-jira.log files to find this one command.

You can create automation in your project using the Issue deleted.
Add info in your audit logs.

Hi @Gerald Remillard ,

We are currently in our Data Center. This is a valuable automation. I added a rule to the Global, allowing me to identify who deleted tickets from the system quickly. Thank you!

For anyone looking for this action when setting up an Automation, it's called "Log Action"

It would be highly beneficial if Jira could implement a feature to retain deleted issues for a minimum of 30 days before permanent removal from the database. This functionality is a standard expectation in most software products. Currently, the inability to recover deleted data without resorting to third-party solutions is a significant limitation.

I kindly request that the capability to restore data, especially for instances where issues are deleted inadvertently, be extended to at least one week. This would serve as a valuable safeguard for users.

I started using Jira in 2006 and people were complaining about this then. I seriously doubt they are going to change.

As I said above; Deleting issues destroys historical data. Missing issue numbers will eventually cause a question about what it was and why was it deleted even if it was done properly. Missing data always brings in the question of people hiding something that may have looked bad.

@Gerald Remillard Hey Gerald,

Thank you for your solution! It helped us for a long time.

Maybe you know what's the issue could be, that i'm getting error.

I didn't changed anything in permissions.

It seems that event starting to not work?
