The "Issue progress" gadget does not show all issues in progress - why?

I am building a Dashboard and have encoutered the above problem.

The "Issues in progress" gadget, shows issues from this filter (which cannot be changed):

assignee = currentUser() AND status = "In Progress"

-> So it shows the issues in status "In progress" that are assigned to the currently logged in user.

Is you want to see a different list of issues, please create your own filter and add the "Filter results" gadget to your dashboard using your own filter.

seems like an extremely limited gadget. Only useful if you use that exact status

Agreed, this gadget makes more sense if it displayed issues assigned to the currentuser in any status that is in the category of "In Progress" (that's what I and pretty much anybody else would assume it does).
