Is Percona MySQL supported for Confluence & JIRA?

Hi there lovely support person,

The Supported Platforms doco says that MySQL (v5.1 & v5.5) is supported, but it doesn't go into details about which flavours of MySQL are OK. I'm trying to find out if we’ll run into problems getting support from Atlassian if we run Percona MySQL instead of say MySQL Enterprise?

I tweeted the same question and got some useful responses from some lovely Atlassian peeps, but they were also a little conflicting. I'd love to get a bit more of a solid answer that will satisfy our DBA and internal support team?

Hi Dhyana,

We will support a Confluence instance that is running on Percona MySQL, because it is so close to MySQL and generally just contains bug fixes for MySQL issues.

However, we do not test on Percona MySQL and cannot guarantee that Confluence will not run into issues with this flavour. If in future we get to a point of troubleshooting with you where the issue you're hitting is not reproducable on straight MySQL but is on Percona MySQL, we'll require you to change back onto MySQL (which at that point would be in your best interests anyway).
