Heartbeat intervalls

We are trying out Opsgenie and one feature we like a lot is the Heartbeat. Our plan is to use this and let all our small scheduled task “apps” call home and tell us that they still are running.

Since we are talking about scheduled task in Windows Servers, most of our apps are not running at night and weekends. For instance, we have an app sending changes on email at a regular basis during workhours, but not at nights and weekends.  

I have tried to match our scheduled intervals in Heartbeat, but cannot find any other possibilities than minutes, hours, and days. Is it possible to add irregular intervals to Heartbeat? If not, is this something that will be added?

This is Darryl, I am here to help.

Understand that you would like to seek a way to configure the un-monitor time period for your heartbeat, unfortunately, this is not feasible in the current design.

However, there is a workaround to achieve the same goal, which is leveraging the Notification Policy.

Since every alerts created by the HeartBeat feature will be tagged with the string "Heartbeat", I suggest access the Teams > the same team where your Heartbeat belongs to > Policies > Add notification policy.

On the notification policy configuration page, please set up the filter as

"Tags", "Contains", "Heartbeat"

And set up the time duration you expect the un-monitor time is.

Then, enable the Suppress notifications permanently under Delay/Suppress, and the Auto close function. Like below.

In this way, all the alerts created by your Heartbeat during the un-monitor period will be snoozed and be auto-closed after the designated time, so that none of the on-call users will be bothered or notified by the heartbeat and no need to take any actions since the alerts will be auto-closed after.
