Change a Workflow scheme for a project

Hi there!

We created a separate Workflow scheme and want to apply it to one project.

We have tried to do it via the Swith Scheme button, but on the second step, Jira wants us to choose a new status for issues. We scare to do it...

How we can choose the same status as the previous?

The bottom line is that you don’t need to be scared of this step. It is simply mapping old statuses to new statuses. If you don’t like the new statuses then simply edit the new workflow to have the statuses desired. The only caution here is that if another project is using the new workflow already then changing the statuses could disrupt/confuse the users on those other projects.

When Swith the workflow scheme, the system will ask the administrator to match the status of the new and old workflows. If the statuses contained in the two workflows are the same, you can smoothly transition.

If they are inconsistent, you need to find the matching relationship between the new and the old status, or adjust the new workflow before switching the scheme.

what is probably happening in your case, is, that you originally have your workflow with statuses A, B, C ... and now you are switching to the workflow, where these statuses don't exist and instead of them you have statuses D, E, F ...

Now Jira asks, what to do, because the old statuses will no longer be available after switch and it is necessary to convert the old ones to the new ones.

If you don't want to transform the old issues, you would need to create new project for the new issues and workflow scheme or something like this, because it is not possible to have two different workflows for one issue type in the project.
