Difference between pageIDFormat URL and "tiny Link" URL regarding permissions in Confluence ?

Hello,

We have a Knowledge Base in Confluence linked to a Jira Service Desk. Any active user can view the space.

I have a question : we have a different behavior when we send to a user the link to a page in 2 different URL format :

When we send a link to a page using the pageID format, the user can display the page.

When we send the link using the shortened ("Tiny link") format (we can get from the "Share" button in a Confluence Page), the user isn't able to display the page and has the following message : "Non authorized operation" (see attachment).

Why are the results different using these 2 URL formats ?

We used to recommand to use the "Tiny link" format but should we continue ?

Caroline,

I believe it has to do with how the access works and is processed.   If a user is authenticated into Jira Service Manager and you provide a link to a page in Confluence that is associated with the Service Desk then the user is actually being authenticated into Jira and Jira is acting as a proxy to access Confluence.  If you use the tiny link it is using Confluence to process the redirect to the actual Confluence page and when it does this the proxy access is not applied.  If the Confluence site was public and opened to everyone then the tiny link will work as well.
