Can't add participant in the portal

Question

When trying to add a participant in the portal following error occurs:

"Failed to update request participants field, errors: Exception occurred: java.lang.NullPointerException"

No issue security, permissions seem fine, no workflow problems. And in the back-end it is possible to add without issue...

Anything further in the logfiles? If you could maybe post an excerpt of the lines that time.

Might give us a clue whether a validator or something is blocking it.
