Upgrade from confluence 6.3.1 to 7.4.4 - Unable to determine location of the home directory. 'conflu

Hi,

Currently, there is standalone confluence 6.3.1 set up. When trying to upgrade to 7.4.4 by selection option 3 upgrade and provided existing confluence home folder path, I got the error saying "Unable to determine location of the home directory. 'confluence.home' was not found inside confluence-init.properties."

Does anyone know what needs to be done?

Hello @Desmond Ng ! As pointed out here by @Brant Schroeder  you could start by checking the home folder that should be defined under your Confluence 6.3.1 confluence-init.properties file. Then, you can copy the path specified there and use it during the upgrade.

If you are on Linux, the path that should be described under the confluence-init.properties looks like this:

confluence.home=/var/confluence-home

On Windows, the path will look like this:

confluence.home=c:/data/confluence-home

Please, keep in mind that the paths above are only examples and the actual location of your server folders may vary.

Sounds like the home directory needs to be set.  You can use this to do so.  https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/startup-check-setting-your-confluence-home-935907597.html  I would start there and make sure confluence-init.properties is setup properly.  Also remember that there can be no symbolic links within the Confluence home directory.
