Is it possible to limit access to a JSW project using an Outlook Dynamic Distribution List (ddl)?

Hi,

I would like to use an Outlook ddl containing >10.000 people so that only those people would get access to a specific Jira Software Project in a Data Center.

Q1: Is it possible to do that with JSW "out of the box"?
Q2: if not, is there a way to script that?
Q3: Either way - and assuming I get a "Yes" to Q1 or Q2 :-) - can you explain the steps to set this up?

For someone to have access to Jira they need an account.  That account is provided by a directory of users.

So, to use an Outlook list for access, that list must be translated into accounts in the directory of users, and possibly a group which you can then use for access control.

Hi Nic,

Not sure I can answer your question as I am not Server Admin - just Project Admin - and I am not 100% familiar with the JIRA configuration on that level. Just know some basics, but as Project Admin, I asked for an Outlook DLL to be added and what I heard then was that it could only be used for Notifications. But not for access control to a specific Project, as can be done with groups.
Now I was wondering if someone had wanted to do the same and succeeded and in that case How? Either with JIRA configurations (and I'd like to know how so I can inform the ones working as Server Admin) or with any other "trick": script? via groups? but then how to get the Outlook dll in the group.
So, any solution / idea to solve my problem would be appreciated and I'll take it with me towards the Server Admins and suggest it.

How are you expecting to get this list into your user directory for Jira?  (What directory are you currently using?)
