Why do I get not defined characters in the customer notifications?

The beginning of the template of my customer notifications looks like this:

Nevertheless the beginning of the mail looks like this:

Why do I get this strange characters at the beginning of the mail. Looks like a bug.

The characters you see are an intended part of the email template. They are used to section out the email.
