Workflow drop down missing

Question

some projects of mine, (under 10 status)  are showing the workflow drop down menu just fine when looking  an issue

other projects (over 15 status) are NOT showing the workflow drop down menu when looking at an issue

I'm using jira 7.8  .  can someone point me in the right direction?  From hours of googling I'm seeing something about a limit in the number of status allowed in a workflow?

I do agree a simpler workflow is good.

is there a way to raise the number of statuses allowed to say 20?

Ah...

In that case, you (or a Jira admin) may want to adjust the workflow so there are less than 15 status destinations available when you're in a particular workflow. This will also help users manage their work, too!

yes, i am part of jira-user group which is allowed to transition permissions

looks like I have a limit in number of status allowed?
