Add CSV file to create issue with Rest API

Hi everyone,

I want to create issue using Jira create issue api.

I'm using Postman, I need to know how can I add a CSV file instead of JSON body. I'm actually looking for an example of CSV file including required fields and values to create an issue. Have you ever done this before? Is there any useful document about it?

Any help would be appreciated.

@Parvaneh Zand  Jira api's usually only take JSON as input data. So there is no way you can pass on CSV to it.

But there couple solutions that you can use,

• If you want to only use Postman
  • In data driven testing part of postman you can found about "working with data files" example - https://learning.postman.com/docs/postman/collection-runs/working-with-data-files/
  • Use this to import CSV, and construct JSON object out of each row of CSV (which Jira expects)
  • Finally, send a request
  • On side note
    • If you are comfortable using 'Prerequest Scripts' in Postman, you can convert CSV to JSON here, and store JSON output in environment variable, and use that in environment variable as request body.
• If you can write script
  • You can easily convert CSV to JSON (lots of library are available for this)
  • Now you have two choice,
    • Simply create issue one by one using POST <BASE_URL>/rest/api/2/issue
    • Bulk create issue, using POST <BASE_URL>/rest/api/2/issue/bulk
