only certain users can see certain fields?

Hello there,

I am seeking a question on behalf of the developers working with me on a project where we are creating a screen for non-jira users which allows them to transition an issue.

In short I am aware of permissions, however is it possible for a user to be setup who only has visibility of certain 'fields' within any issue? So I really mean a permission scheme based on field visbility?

I hope that is clear.

There is already a feature request for this as you can see here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1330

But it is closed as won't fix, as it turns out we have looked at this issue from every possible angle, banging our heads together, internally feuding and exploring various resourcing options.

In the ticket you can find the reasons it was not implemented an possible workarounds.
