Confluence avatar server fails after upgrade to confluence 7.3.4

After upgrading confluence to 7.3.4 the rest calls to the avatar server, which is installed on Confluence fail. https://confluenceURL/rest/cas/1.0/avatar/server returns with a page not found 404 error. It fails from JIRA, Bitbucket, fisheye and bamboo. Anyone else experienced this behavior?
