Link issues together

Question

Hello,

We have Jira Service Desk Server.

We know that Its possible to link issues together on different project. Can this procedure be done only if they have the same values on one custom field?

For Example,

Project A and Project B have custom field named Phone Number.

When the value of the Phone Number is 6936956989 on the Issue-1(Project A) and Issue-1 (Project B)  then links these Issues.

Is that possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are trying to

1: Automatically link issues when the custom field values are the same?

or

2: Restrict linking so that 2 issues can only be linked if they have the same custom field value?

1 Can be done with some scripting or probably automation. (use smart values to write a jql to look for all issues with the same value as the value in the issue.

If you are trying to do 2, then I don't think there is a way to limit what issues can be linked based on a custom field.

The values are limited? I mean maximum 20 values or 30 values are there?or not it is unlimited?

Are you sure? I have custom text fields.

Each value of these fields have a value something like 34525325253ex923.
