Jira with network monitoring, IPAM, switch port mapping?

Hi all

We recently chose Jira SD, Insight and Insight Discovery as a combination for our main ITSM solution, and the implementation project is just starting.

As we are looking forward, the modules mentioned above do not have all the features in the world that an IT department needs, but I was wondering if anyone has found and implemented a Jira-compatible or Jira-integration solution for these areas:

* network monitoring and alerting based on rules and threshold (servers, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.), at the moment we use OpManager
* managing IP subnets (IPAM, device inventory, subnet planning and reporting, etc.), at the moment we use Excel
* mapping switch ports to devices (automated device identification and network connectivity tracking and reporting), at the moment we don't have any tools for this

Of course in the future we would like to see these features consolidated inside Jira/Insight, or maybe integrated through third-party products for example, but I haven't found interesting solutions yet.

Any pointers or experiences?

Hello Antti,

Let's address a few things based on what you shared.

Network Monitoring:  OpManager already does this. Threshold-based alerting, SNMP traps, server/router/switch/firewall monitoring is its core strength. You don't need to replace it.

IPAM & Subnet Management: OpUtils gives you full IPAM, subnet discovery, rogue device detection, and reporting. Far better than Excel and natively integrated with OpManager.

Switch Port Mapping: Also covered in OpUtils with its Switch Port Mapper module, which does exactly automated Layer 2 discovery, port-to-device mapping, and connectivity reporting.
