Is it possible to download a file by clicking on the image if it is linked to the file?

Hi, calling for help with an issue in Confluence.

Use-case/requirement: User should be able to download a pdf file once he/she clicks on a button in Confluence page. It should not give preview or open the file directly on the page, but ask to save/open.

Our solution: We created a button kind of image in draw.io and embedded the pdf file. To avoid showing the draw.io toolbar we chose the option to hide the toolbar.

Problem: The problem with the drawio macro is that there is a gap automatically formed before the next line or just below this draw.io button/image. We could not contain text line immediately.

It surely is possible for you to create a download button in a Confluence page. There is even the possibility of you using a simple image as the button. There is no need for you to resort to the usage of a macro such as Draw.io.

Here is a .gif of how to achieve this:

The text explanation follows:

1. Go to the page which contains the attachment
2. Click the paperclip at the top left corner (this will take us to the attachments page for that page)
3. Click to preview the desired attachment
4. Click with the right mouse button on the Download button at the top right corner
5. Select to Copy Link Location
6. Go to the page where you need to place the download button
7. Enter edit mode
8. Upload or select an image to be used as a button
9. Select the image
10. Click the LINK option
11. Select Web Link
12. Wait a few seconds
13. Paste the link you copied earlier
14. Click save
15. Publish the page
