Having a HTML field in .vm taking value from js

I have to code like below in the .vm file of a plugin.

# $foo="$customfield.id"

# $val ="$!value"

<input type="text"

name ="$foo"

value ="$val"

/>

i am very new to plug in developement and i am not sure of syntax.

Is it possible to set values to a custom field from some variable.
