how to search for a particular string i.e. "look for string" in confluence

even in advanced search I cant search for a part string using

Confluence 1000.0.0

like "apples and cream"....I get "apples" or "Cream" but never both - how is this possible that the product cannot perform the most simple boolean task? in this version of confluence there is only 1 search field, and I have tried many permutations to get a boolean search than most engines or even outlook can do with ease!

The search syntax is actually pretty good. You can get pretty complicated with the syntax. For instance ...

((apples AND cream) OR (human NOT resources)) AND Bob

In a boolean search you must capitalize and and or like such. if you do not capitalize them they are thrown out of the search as common words.

Apples AND Cream

Apples OR Cream

exact phrase can be search by surrounding it with double quotes,but be aware that stop words like and might get ignored
