Save slack messages in Confluence-server

Michel_Levy

Hi,

Since we are using the free version of Slack, \there is a limit of how many messages will be saved in Slack.

We were wondering if there was a way to automatically save our Slack conversation/messages into Confluence so we can n Confluence later on and search on all the history of messages

We use Confluence server (NOT cloud).

We are not interested in having Confluence updates to show in Slack, we are mainly interested to go from SLACK to Confluence.

Thank you!

@Michel_Levy, I'm not aware of anything automatic. Most of the apps I have seen do thing like notify your Slack Channel when changes are made or comments are added.

I do know that depending on what plan you are on in Slack, you have a variety of options to export Channels. If I remember right you can do HTML or JSON. You could then work our a way to import / display the exports in confluence. There are a number of Apps in the marketplace that allow you to view JSON formatted documents.

Slack Export Document:

It's not automatic but maybe it can get you heading in the right direction.

Thank you for the reply.

I am very surprised that such automatic way does not exist.

Doing the manual export + playing with JSON and JSOn plugin etc... does not look like a very attractive solution I have to say.

@Michel_Levy Agreed, its not a nice easy solution. I thought your question was a pretty interesting one and was hoping to find something cool out there. If you find something that works please post back here. I'd be really interested in the solution. -pjd

Did we ever find a better solution for this ? looking to do something similar but be able to trigger when it happens. Like that was an interesting convo lets add it to Confluence page... etc
