Hi,
Currently I am not getting email notifications upon my own comments posted on JIRA - only upon comments by others. Is there a way to receive email notifications also for my own comments?

On your profile, you can choose notify for "own changes". That will send you notifications for all the events, including comments, done by you.
Many sites set the default to not send because most people don't like to get emails for their own work. But as Jobin said users can change it in their profile.
