How do I safely delete comments from a page by year?

Hello all,

I have a page in Confluence that has ~400 comments. It is getting unruly and I am looking for an efficient (and safe) way to remove comments in bulk from a page by year.

I am going to take screenshots of the comments by year to archive them somewhere and will be removing them by year as I go.

I noticed that in the database, there is a content table and I can query all content by type (comment) and by page ID. I can also sort by date it looks like. I am concerned that if I delete comments directly from this table, there could be dependencies I am not aware of that could cause issues. Would it be safe to delete comments directly from this content table or is there a better way?

It's probably safer to use an add-on to accomplish this such as:

• Delete All Comments
• ScriptRunner for Confluence - see guide on deletion of comments here

Not so sure on the database; it's not the approach I'd take but there's an answer here which might help with that.
