metadata variable approveddate does not give the correct approval date

When I use the metadata variable approveddate I don't get the date of the final page approval?

||Current Status|{pagestatus} by {get-metadata:approvedby} on {get-metadata:approveddate} |

Could you tell me exactly what you're trying to do here? Is this in a User Macro that you're writing, or are you trying to develop an add-on for Confluence?
