Thanks for coming to Community with your service start-up errors. From the log output you provided, it seems Confluence is having an issue attempting to establish a connection with the Database. We’ll need to see what is causing this exactly, could you please review the atlassian-confluence.log and let us know what is present after an attempted service start?

Hello Christian,

Thanks for letting us know about the reply error. This is most likely caused by the test you're attempting to paste has HTML or another formatting within causing the editor to reject it. We would suggest pasting the text into another text editor and stripping any formatting and then pasting it back into Community. I know this is not an ideal workaround, but it typically does the trick.

when I'm using Notepad++ I'm getting the same error-message. It uses plain-text. But the same with the Windows Editor.

What log of Confluence do you need? The "confluence-stderr"?

The log we're looking to find something it would be the atlassian-confluence.log. If the application is not getting to the point where it logging to this log, then we may need to check the catalina logs to see if something else is causing an issue.

From this, it seems the service is unable to find the database to get the service started. I would review your database configurations to ensure they’ll be configured properly and your database is in fact online. Please review these:

If these do not work then we would suggest creating a new confluence.cfg.xml file, this can be done by following How to Generate a New confluence.cfg.xml
