Migrate local Confluence server to a linux server in Azure

Hi, we have a Confluence server in our local network, this is version 3.5.13. A couple months ago we just renewed our lincence from 100 to 250 users.

Now we would like to move this to a new linux server in Azure, where I would like to install the latest version of Confluence.

I have a few questions.

- How does this work with our current licence?

- Is there something to keep in mind when installing the new Confluence on a linux server in Azure?

- How do I export all the data we already have in the old version

- How do I import all the data in the new version.

Joeri,

Migrating servers is a fairly straight forward activity. You can find the steps to do so here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/migrating-confluence-between-servers-184150.html My guess is you are running the database on the same server and it will also need to migrated. You can find instructions here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/migrating-to-another-database-148867.html

You will need to migrate to the same version of Confluence. So you can either download the same version as you currently have on your server or you can upgrade your current instance prior to migration.

- How does this work with our current licence? You will use the same licence key on both instances. After the migration is complete if both instances uses separate DBs, you can update the old instances license to a developers license so you can validate the migration.

- How do I import all the data in the new version? If you follow the instructions above you will not have to do an import as everything will have been migrated through the database and file structure.
