Customizing the Confluence Default Theme Footer Easily

Question

We have requirements at the company which dictate that we need to add a footer to each page in a space that indicates how a document is classified.  This is very easy to do if you use the Documentation Theme.  But I can't find a good way to instruct users to do this if they're using the default theme.  I also don't want to set a global footer on all of Confluence as the classification will be different per space.  Space Admins will not have access to backend files that dictate content or anything of that nature. I can't dictate that the documentation theme be the only one used, so I need a way to easily provide footer information for the other themes as well.

Please advise.

Hi Kim,

From what I can see, creating a global template might solve your problem. For that, you can make use of the documentation here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Adding+a+Template.

Once the global template is set, everytime a user creates a page, they can choose to start it from that template, or any other template available (or blank). For that, use this documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Creating+a+Page+using+a+Template.
