Is there a limitation for the total of items in a List type Custom field ?

hi

we have a Jira custom field of list type

and this list has about 200 values currently

the trouble is , that the list is updated every year with new 200 values

and even if I make "disable" to the old values

I would still eventually at some point will have a very long list with more than 1000 values.

so,

1 - UI - can I somehow collapse all disabled items ?

2 - what is the size limitation for this list and is there a risk in performance if it is too long ?

I think you should look for a more complex custom field type than a select list.

For example, there's insight plugin, where you'll manage the object schema with your objects-values and allow users to choose from those you want to.

Or you can try using scriptrunners behaviour functionality to convert a field on the fly.

But I'm pretty sure there are other plugins which a cheaper and can perform some kind of building a better looking select list from a given data.

Hi @ayala nayman ,

There is no such limit for the number of option for the select custom field.

But it is not recommended to have more options for the usability purpose and performance concerns.
