Authenticate Jira with Windows login

Question

Hi,

I need to configure JIRA authentication with Windows login session. Once user logged in to windows user account Jira/Confluence application will be logged in with the same user credential without login to separate applications.

I could integrate SSO successfully with CROWD for Jira. But I want to know if it is possible to use CROWD and enable SSO for JIRA with windows login. As per my findings I could see that there are solutions available such as AppFusion, Umbrella SSO that enables Windows SSO authentication for Atlassian products.

Without using above mentioned products, is it possible to build a custom authenticator for this purpose using Kerberos  or is it possible to configure CROWD to enable SSO with windows authentication (may be setting up CROWD as a windows service etc.)?
