Do we need latest Windows updates for installing Confluence?

We were on a a very old version of Confluence (3.x). We lost the sever to hacking and now need to install it again. The SQL database and Content is backed up. Do we need to have the latest version of Windows Updates to install latest version of Confluence? What will happen if we install Confluence 6.15 on a Windows Sever 2012, that hasn't received Windows updates in 4 years?

apart from running into more security problems from your operating system, it should be no problem to install a clean new Confluence on a Windows 2012 server.
