Confluence Could not load bootstrap from environment

Question

Got this error after switching to Edge browser from chrome

BootstrapException: Unable to bootstrap application: Failed to parse config file: Error on line 1 of document : Content is not allowed in prolog. Nested exception: Content is not allowed in prolog.

Note: I'm using confluence server 6.9.1. I did not touch or edit any file.

Like I said before, I haven't touched anything in files. The link you sent me points out that this is due to full read/write permissions. I am the only administrator of my laptop and there are no other user accounts. Still cannot solve the problem and this sucks a lot.

Karl - I am assuming this is the issue you get when starting the service.  This is usually the issue and how to fix it: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/unable-to-start-confluence-error-is-unable-to-bootstrap-application-could-not-make-directory-ies-home-directory-392890163.html
