Good Afternoon!

I was creating a Kanban board in JIRA  - On the Kanban board, when we look at the Kanban backlog, it is showing me both the stories and also the subtasks under each of them. 

Usually scrum board- the backlog just shows the stories and in the active sprint we see both stories and subtasks.

 Could you please help us in getting the similar functionality into the Kanban board (just the stories on the ‘Kanban backlog’ page and the stories with subtasks on the active ‘Kanban board’ )

This is a question my customers are asking is there away to handle this?

Hello @Orazio Pensabene 

There is no explicit way to have the status of backlog show only stories but other status show both stories and sub-tasks. You could filter your backlog:

1. Board > Configure > Quick Filters
2. Name your filter something that makes sense to you
3. JQL Query: project not in ("YOUR PROJECTS") AND issuetype != Sub-task
4. Save it
5. Go to your board > Quick Filters >Turn on your filter

This will only show issues that are not a sub-task. If this isn't working for you and your team, you could also change the values for swimlanes (i dont think this fits your scenario):

1. Board > Configure > Swimlanes
2. Change Base Swimlanes on "Queries" instead of "Stories"
3. This would apply globally, even to your board and backlog
