I've created a custom labels type field for recording hardware serial numbers. We like the labels type field for this because one click on the label on the view screen or in a dashboard will open a query for all issues with that label. But now we want the custom labels fields, or similar, to present the user with a list of known values that is dynamically read from an external database that is maintaining the list of available serial numbers.
